Questions
The things people ask
before they get in touch.
Pricing, timelines, what we need from you, and what happens if you change your mind. If your question is not here, email us and we will answer it plainly.
What is a Clarity Session, and what do I get?
Ninety minutes. We go through where your files and records actually live and what the current arrangement is costing you. You leave with a written summary of the three things costing you the most time, and what to do about each one.
It is $250, paid at booking, and credited in full toward any engagement you book within 30 days. If the session does not show you something worth acting on, we refund it.
What do engagements cost?
Prices are published on the Services page rather than quoted on request. An Information Assessment starts at $2,800, Knowledge Management at $3,800, a Workspace Build-Out at $6,500, and a Governance Retainer at $1,200 a month with a three-month minimum. Agencies, localities and larger organizations are scoped after a conversation.
These are founding client rates. The practice is new, the experience behind it is not, and these rates hold for the full length of anything booked before the end of 2027.
How long does this take, and how much of my time does it need?
An Information Assessment runs four weeks and takes about two hours of your time in total. Your team does not stop working while it happens.
Week one is a kickoff of about an hour with you and whoever handles the files day to day. Weeks two and three we work mostly without you, with roughly an hour of questions spread across them. Week four you get the written assessment and we walk through it together.
Do I need to tidy things up before you look?
No. Please do not. The mess is the information. What you have worked around, duplicated or quietly given up on is exactly what tells us where the structure failed.
Who actually does the work?
One person, start to finish. The person who scopes your work is the person who does it. There is no junior consultant learning on your files and no handoff to a delivery team you never met.
That also means we take a limited number of engagements at a time. If we say yes, it is because we can do it properly. If we are full, we will tell you that instead of taking a deposit and stretching.
Does the work happen inside our own Microsoft 365 tenant?
Yes. A Workspace Build-Out is configured in your tenant, so what gets built belongs to you and stays with you. Document libraries, metadata and content types, permissions that make sense, and automated workflows for intake, approvals and recurring compliance tasks.
The standard scope covers up to six document libraries, three automated workflows and 25 users. Anything beyond that is quoted once we have seen it.
When do I pay, and on what terms?
Most engagements are part paid at signing with the balance on delivery. Larger builds are staged against milestones you approve rather than dates on a calendar. Your proposal sets the schedule before anything starts.
Invoices are Net 30 for commercial clients. Public sector clients are invoiced on the terms Virginia sets, which is 30 days for state agencies and 45 days for localities.
What if I want to stop partway through?
Cancel after work has started and you are billed only for what has been completed, and you keep everything produced up to that point. The Clarity Session is refundable outright. Nothing here is designed to trap you in a contract.
Do you work with government agencies?
Yes. The discipline came from federal commands operating under audit, and it transfers directly to state agencies, localities, school divisions and public universities. Retention obligations you did not write, a records officer role somebody has to fill, and a Microsoft 365 environment that grew without a plan are the ordinary conditions of this work rather than the exception.
What happens when the engagement ends?
Handover. Documentation written for your team rather than for consultants, plus a working session so the structure actually gets used.
Structure decays after that, because people join, projects end and somebody shares a folder to get through a deadline. If you want it kept current, the Governance Retainer covers policy upkeep, a quarterly review of who has access to what, onboarding help and a standing line for questions. It is optional.
How do I start?
Most clients start with a Clarity Session. You can book one straight into the calendar.
If you would rather talk first, book a free 15 minute call, or email christy@linearwa.com and tell us what is going on. If we are not the right fit, we will tell you that too.
Prices and terms on this page are indicative and are confirmed in a written proposal for each engagement. That proposal governs.
Still not sure?
Tell us what is going on and we will tell you whether we can help. If we cannot, we will say so.
